With the second season of Daredevil already in production, and Jessica Jones just months away from being launched, Netflix is already thinking about the follow up superhero, Luke Cage, who will be played Mike Colter (The Following).
The Hero for Hire will make his debut in Jessica Jones before jumping to his standalone series, which according to Deadline will also star the multiple award-winning actress Alfre Woodard in a key role. Woodard will play "Minetta, a powerful woman in local politics who will have an impact on Luke Cage’s life."As far as I know, Minetta is not a character from the comics, and that seems to support what the trade says when they report that she could be a version of Black Mariah, a "professional criminal and drug dealer" from the Luke Cage and Iron Fist comic book pages.
No release date for Luke Cage has yet been set, but I will assume it will premiere sometime in 2016.
