The Good Folk of 2005

There have been some folks this past year that have impressed me with them just being good folks. I never accepted the concept of altruism however I do believe that there are people who help others simply because they think it is the right thing to do. This in itself is a motive which contradicts the definition of altruism-but hell, that is a philosophical discussion I will leave to the Ayn Rands of the world.
Without further ado here is my list of some people who have helped me or influenced my life this past year--other than sweetthing who will always be number one on my list:

The man who runs the tire store who gave me a new set of tires to replace the ones that wore out due to a bad wheel alignment job. The tires were not under warranty nor did I ask for the tires. I went in to get another wheel alignment and a new set of rubber. He realized that it was a bad alignment from last time and gave me the set of tires and would not even let me pay him for mounting them nor the new alignment that he personally did to be sure it was done right.

My neighbors who although were not asked to do so looked after my place when I was away on a months vacation last spring. They watered my grass and garden and even our plants on the back porch. He is a retired USAF NCO and one fine man of 83 years of age.

A neighbor who took it upon himself to haul in asphalt and patch the road leading into our development. We do not have a home owners association and the county will not repair the streets in the development. Some of us learned who did the repair and helped him with the cost which was considerable but he was still a lot of money out of pocket.

The lady who runs the produce place where we buy our fruits and vegetables who always keeps back a box of okra for me. She has a real smile for everyone and also has some of the best boiled peanuts I have every eaten.

My eye doctor who is not only one of the best eye surgeons in the business but has a bedside manner which other doctors would do well to emulate. He not only calmed sweetthings fears about a pending laser surgery but I think she was actually looking forward to it as well as another she has to have next month.

A nurse, now retired at my primary care quacks office who always went out of her way to make me comfortable. She knows I have a lot of back problems and always saw to it that I sat in an easy chair in her office while I was waiting for the doc instead of the hard chairs in the waiting room. Sure wish she was still there.

The lady from the cable place who installed the new modem in my new computer who also took the time to show me a lot of the features on my new system. She didn't have to do this-it was on her own time and she wouldn't here of me paying her.

About fifty different bloggers who have linked this site at one time or another and some several times. Without links it is very difficult to become know in this world of blogging and I do appreciate it.

INDIGO is the epitome of a classy southern woman. I feel so fortunate to be able to claim her as a friend.

last but not least and no doubt the one who has helped me the most this past year is my delightful blog momma, LIVEY who several times has spent a lot of time maintaining this blog. I could never have done it without her because every time I touch a template I screw it up. Thank you Livey darlin and I'll hug your neck in a couple of days.
